The 'Fixed Penalty' approach was introduced to minimise costs in dealing with very low level offences, where the offenders were not a massive risk to society, or likely to reoffend. So, a fine of £80 would serve as a simple measure to penalise an individual, while saving us all high costs in giving a proper going-over to a twat.
I do not agree that so-called trivial matters should be swept under the carpet via a fine of £80, but I do understand that there could be an argument in favour of this approach in certain circumstances. However, I read today that the £80 fixed penalty has been used to punish a CUNT who claimed she'd been raped. I am not alone in my condemnation, as (for once) a judge has expressed outrage. Judge Michael Challinor blasted police for giving this fixed fine to a girl who told her boyfriend she'd been raped. The boyfriend promptly decided to beat up the 'offender' and he got three years in jail as a reward for his manly response (twat, eh?). But while he serves less than half (no doubt) of the three years, the person who caused the fucking mess in the first place, Jess Cooper aged 17, gets a fine at the level of two haircuts, and swans off to find another boyfriend. Quite simply, she is a cunt. The Police are twats for letting her off. The judge said "It almost beggars belief", when describing the police's actions. Whichever way you look at it -
this country is fucked.
