3.3.14 Scary Family Courts

We all know how secretive the "justice" system is in respect of family matters. The Family Division of the High Court is a place that no parent wants to end up, although it is a fact that many parents are forced to be dealt with in this environment.  The latest example of desperate action by scared parents is that of a couple whose 9-month son was the target of Leicester City Council. Yunus Chhatbar and Safiya Reheman have fled to Northern Cyprus, after it became clear that the council wanted to take Momo into custody.  This has all resulted from a claim by a relative that Yunus has a violent past (a claim he denies).

I do not claim to know all the facts at all, but I would say quite simply that if on the dubious claims of one relative (motivated by who knows what, if the claim is without foundation) a council was going to take into "care" my son, with the prospect of his being put up for adoption within a few months.  This whole approach doesn't stack up, and parents have no rights at all when social workers and the family courts get into their heads an idea that they ought to use draconian powers to fuck things up.  Yes, the various parties are obliged to look out for the interests and well being of children, but the secrecy and cuntishness that floats just below the surface of the allegedly noble actions of these interfering bodies is a good reason for parents to flee, those who are wholly innocent of any wrongdoing as well as those who might be less than perfect.

As for Interpol's involvement, hasn't it got better things to do with its time - perhaps searching for the many children kidnapped by one of the parents and taken abroad might well be a better use of time than hounding two parents who have chosen to be together with their son.
