15.3.14 Silly Rules - Lawyers, Schools & Government

The Royal Society of Arts

Have you ever heard anything so fucking wet and stupid?  The RSA has suggested that all pupils should start the year with an 'A' grade, and should never be told that they have failed.  They should continuously improve to keep it.  Further bollocks is provided by the assertion that instead of a 'Fail', children are given 'Not Yet' grades, so that they still feel they have a chance to reach their goal.  This ridiculous approach will simply do no good at all and misleading kids is not really the best form of education.

Legal Fees

As if any proof were needed that 'in general', many lawyers are greedy self-serving cunts, we hear of the ludicrous case of the PCSO injured when attending an incident.  Pauline Harrison hurt her knee when investigating a burglary, and to my mind, that must surely be her own fucking fault. Nevertheless, the culture today if for anyone to deny any personal responsibility, and this view is encouraged by just about every legal firm in the country.  The consequence, apart from lawyers being allowed to flourish like a virus, is that an insurance premium these days is massively higher than necessary because of the abuse of the system.

So, everything costs me more, whether directly or through use of services provided by entities who must themselves cover the higher costs.  Pauline Harrison was no doubt egged on by the lawyers, and has received £4,000 in settlement.  The scale of the legal costs, though, is cunting disgusting.  The costs applied for from the insurers is - £57,000.  This is quite simply cuntish, and dare I suggest 'criminal'.  No, I dare not - otherwise there will be another court case and fees for more lawyers. What a sad, sad world we live in.

Mountainbase

I think it is highly amusing that a company (Mountainbase) can promote its skiing holidays and cause so much of an outcry.  This has been made possible as a result of the cuntish fines now imposed by local authorities and school, when children miss term time.  The simple truth is that in the holidays, the firms charge more than they do for the same holiday in term time.  This state of affairs is prolonged and promoted by schools themselves if they screw any fucking parents who dare to opt for different dates.  It is no good expecting holiday companies to reduce costs in school holidays, as they need to make money to cover under occupancy in term time!  The offer of Mountainbase to cover up to £700 of fines if parents are penalised after a term-time break is simply a sensible commercial approach; how else can anything be done to try and maintain a business in the weeks before and after the school holidays?

The government's endorsement of high fines means that extortionate costs for breaks during school holidays are here to stay.  The idea of fines was only ever to address truancy, not to deny common sense, flexibility and a reasonable approach - as existed before the fines.  The pompous statements made by teachers and education spokespeople are often annoying as fuck, and whilst they may indeed have some relevance, I suggest that in very many cases, the week or two of lost schooling may be more than made up for by worthwhile experience of other things.  I believe that in the modern world, the latter is as important (or more so) than some run-of-the-mill lessons.
