Some people are simply twats. One such person would seem to be Maggie Waugh who has complained to Tesco, and had her story put in the newspaper after no doubt seeking the publicity. What monstrous act has Tesco been accused of? A shop worker made a mistake.
Apparently while she waited outside the Tesco Express, her daughter Dani, aged seven, went inside to buy a surprise Mother's Day gift. Already this sounds a bit weird; no, not because of the girl's name, but because it would hardly be a surprise gift if mum was waiting. Indeed, Maggie let her seven-year-old daughter go shopping on her own, and would surely have wanted to know why she had to wait outside (?)
Dani picked up a teddy and some cards and a pink gift box of chocolates which came with a 200ml bottle of sparkling wine. When she went to the self-service till, the scan caused a bleep, but the attendant pressed the authorisation button. So, she left with her purchases.
When Maggie was given her gift on the Sunday, she was apparently 'horrified'. I think this was an awful reaction to being given a present. Anyway, she complained to the Tesco Express duty manager, who apologised for the mistake. The self-righteous Mrs Waugh said: "Tesco offered me a £50 voucher but I told them I'm not interested. They need to make sure it does not happen again."
You nob. Your daughter bought you a present, and what amounted to a glass of wine accompanied some chocolates. You turn down a £50 voucher so you can moan like fury, when it was a one-off mistake. Let me ask you - why was your daughter attempting to buy alcohol?
