1.2.14 Splash! - 1st Semi Final

Everyone's "raising their game" tonight (apparently).  Seeing as Tom is in training, and having a rest from diving, we were treated to Jenny for the demonstrations - and she is rather good, and better than Tom!  This contest was pointless, as I'd already agreed with Mrs MWSC that Keith Duffy and Perri Kiely were dead certs to be in the final.

Duffy

"Legs were a little bit sloppy on entry" said the commentator, and I shuddered at the notion.

The 'bad back' excuse was logged early on, so that we all had more to talk about than just the dive.  Jo Brand managed to tell us he was "very brave" and "courageous".  Yawn.  21.5 / 30

Danielle

Gabby introduced her as "Danielle Lloyd" this time, rather than "O'Hara".  I wish she'd make up her mind what she's called.  I don't give a fuck about he name, as to me this woman is irritating as hell, and not attractive, despite her own belief that she's the dog's bollocks (or should that be the bitch's cunt?) and I'd be pleased not to have to listen to her again.

The accident and injury were noted, as per, and we then watched her do a somersault on the springboard.  Obviously there was a ritual before the jump, and preening.  The springiness was NOT tested at all as she left with no more 'spring' than would have been provided by a flick of my finger.  Over rotation ruled.  Jo Brand talked crap.  20 / 30

"That bouncy lump of metal is not easy to make friends with" said Andy.

Inane question of the century - from Vernon, to Andy:

"What's the difference between the springboard and the platforms?"

Michaela

She knows she's got to "step the game up a bit".  Yep.  Yes, Gabby, we know she's the oldest; yawn.  Another springboard effort followed.  A bit of over rotation, but not as much as the Lloyd woman.  22.5 / 30

Perri

Simply excellent, and not much else to say really.  27.5 / 30

Duffy 2

23 / 30

Danielle 2

Falling off a board in a pike position is not really that impressive for a semi final effort.  She fell off okay, with some over rotation, as ever.  Jo mentioned a stuffed panda, during a lame joke.  The other two talked shit.  20 / 30

Michaela 2

"Well done for not screaming on the way down," said Jo Brand, after Michaela managed a slight under rotation.  22 / 30

Perri 2

The dive he chose was phenomenal compared with other 'safe' efforts from contestants.  Yes, his legs spreading at the entry, and he was still twisting, but he did well!  24 / 30

ITV managed to abuse my ears through the needless playing of Rihanna and the horrendous 'Umbrella'.  The messy free-for-all diving/padding while we were supposed to vote was rather indulgent.

Perri 51.5
Keith 44.5
Michaela 44.5
Danielle 40

The Results

Obviously Perri was the winner, and predictably, Keith beat Michaela in the Splash-Off.  I think we all know that Perri is the winner - or should be.
