8.5.15 General Election - What Have I Learned?

  • Julie (R)Etchingham cannot pronounce 'exit' and instead opts for 'Egg-Zit'.
  • Jeremy Vine is a tit with his graphics, intonation, and general disposition.
  • Laura Kuenssberg has no place on television, and should not be seen or heard.
  • Tom Bradby is obsessed with "unpicking" things, and asking guests to "unpick" with annoying regularity, especially early on when there were no actual results in, and it was all speculation!
  • The media's obsession with graphics has reached a preposterous level.
  • Dimbleby is a bumbling bore who has lost any skill he once allegedly had.
  • The Green Party gets 1 million votes, and just one MP.  UKIP gets 3.5 million votes and just one MP.  Yet, the SNP gets 56 MPs for its 1.5 million votes.
  • The two Dick'Eds are out - Ed Miliband resigns and Ed Balls loses by 422 votes.

  • Facebook can add one more useless task to its repertoire, after my wall has been filled by posts from people telling me they have voted! Whoop-de-fucking-do!  So you should have - but, I am NOT carrying out an audit and so can do without this information. What next?  Opportunities to register "I've done the weekly big shop" or "I've washed the cunting car" ?
  • There can be NO disguising that the Scots have voted for Scotland, an Independent Scotland, and on an anti-English, anti-London, anti-Conservative basis.  In essence, last year's vote on independence paved the way for this wave of nationalism, and what is single party politics.  Getting 56 MPs is far too high a reward for just 1.5 million votes, and yet there will be frustration in Scotland that their say in national government is not higher.  Thus, full independence is a natural desire.  Perhaps it's time to let Scotland go, and see how it fares on its own.  Sadly, I suspect that Scotland will simply shout loudly and demand so many concessions that it achieves independence in all but name.  Why prolong the agony?
  • Stability in the UK is the prize of this election, and the markets will be pleased.  A complete mess has been averted.  The fear of Labour fucking up the economy was a driving factor in the Conservatives winning.
  • Labour completely fucked up, and let's hope it gets itself sorted out now.
  • The LibDems paid the price for coalition, although it would be unfair not to recognise that five years ago it worked in the national interest.
  • It was so nice to have an election without Gordon Brown featuring.
