Last week, there were 78 cookery programmes scheduled on the main terrestrial TV channels. The split was as follows:

ITV1 6
I thought this was a bit over-the-top, and certainly so in respect of Channel 4, which can legitimately be labelled "lazy" for airing so many prorammes of this nature. I was not, therefore, impressed to see the week that's ending tomorrow having even more of this fodder. Yes, the total has gone up to 84 progammes, split as follows:

How can this be necessary, warranted or fucking possible? Today, there was ample opportunity to follow the food through selective viewing as follows:

4.00pm - 5.00pm Britain's Best Bakery ITV
5.00pm - 5.30pm Come Dine With Me Ch4
5.30pm - 6.00pm Jamie's 15 Minute Meals Ch4
6.00pm - 7.00pm Break for tea
7.00pm - 8.00pm Raymond Blanc's Christmas Feast BBC2
