10.5.15 Chuka

The race for the Labour leadership is underway, and I have little doubt that Chuka Umunna will be a frint runner.  He's already touting his wife for the media, and moaning that Labour needs to move back from the 'left'.

I suspect that Chuka Sickie will be viewed as acceptable to many within the Labour ranks as someone who ticks a few boxes.  Young, modern, black, intelligent.  Yawn.  "Britain's Barack Obama" is hardly a tag that is helpful, but it exists already, in some quarters, and he's seen as some sort of messiah.

It should not be forgotten that he's courted scandal already - 18 months ago he accepted £20k from the gambling community.  The donation was provided by bookies, whom he'd slammed for their effects on communities.

Other criticisms have resulted from his various inputs, and he cannot seem to escape the description of being a 'champagne socialist'.  Let's see what happens in the coming weeks and months, but I suspect he'll somehow place himself centre-court.  Will it be Chuka Can or Chucka Can't, I wonder?
